💲 NMHS students were served up a 'Bite of Reality' this morning. The North Mason Chamber Education Committee, in partnership with Kitsap Credit Union, Our Community Credit Union, and Peninsula Credit Union, presented the Annual Financial Reality Fair. Business and community members man various stations at the event to help students get a 'Bite of Reality,' using an app-based activity where students get to make financial and budgetary decisions. One student was overheard saying to a friend, "Uh-oh. I have to go back to the Credit Union," when he realized he couldn't meet his budget with his current expenses. Thank you to all of the community businesses and volunteers, as well as the group of teachers and staff, that put this event together for our students. This interactive experience, using actual examples about finances and budgeting, provided them all a great glimpse into some of the challenges that come with the being in the real-world.

🏞️🐍🥙🍰 8th Grade Tours CTE at NMHS 🌱🧑‍⚕️🩺 Our HMS 8th grade students had the chance to step inside NMHS Career & Technical Education classes Friday and explore the many options available to them next year. Thank you to Mr. Ottenbacher who teaches Health Careers, Mr. Sounders who teaches Culinary, Mr. Forseth who teaches Boat Building and Woodworking, and Ms. Landers who teaches Agriculture for welcoming students to their classrooms. 🎓 Senior Class Meeting 🎓 The senior class had a great opportunity today to meet with counselors to learn more about the many amazing scholarships available to them through the generosity of the North Mason Scholarship Foundation and other local businesses/agencies. The counseling team has been hard at work to make this information easily accessible to seniors and have attempted to streamline the application process by creating an online version of the scholarship notebook, which must be submitted by March 18th at 3:00 pm. Please note, some scholarships require additional documents be included, beyond what is requested through the scholarship notebook. ❤️ What a nice way for our staff to start the day! ❤️ Belfair Community Church brings the staff doughnuts once a week and this week they brought special treats for Valentines Day. Thank you so much for this show of appreciation for all of our staff at each building!

February is CTE Month and today we highlight the Hospitality & Tourism pathways. Here at NMSD, our CTE program has a culinary pathway that introduces students to the industry, and provides learning opportunities through the planning and catering of administration and community events. One event students participate in every year is the United Way auction, preparing specialty desserts for attendees. 💙 Student Kindness 💙 One of our security guards, Scotty, received an unexpected kindness from a high school student last week. In pottery class, the student made an engraved food bowl for Scotty's cat, Stitch, which was finished off in a beautiful shade of bulldog blue. You can see from Scotty's smile, that this gesture really made his day. Moments like this show that, beyond doing their job of keeping our campuses safe, our security guards form real connections with our students. Thank you, Scotty, Dan, and Anthony, for all you do!
